Guelph is growing and how people move around the city is changing. The City is exploring transportation options to make Guelph move better in every way, and is asking for community input to help guide the conversation.
“Our transportation network is what makes Guelph run. We want to hear from the community about what’s working well, what could be improved, and how we can make it easier for you to get where you’re going,” says Kealy Dedman, general manager of Engineering and Transportation Services. “One of the themes highlighted in our Community Plan is ‘we move around freely,’ and we believe our Transportation Master Plan will help us achieve this vision.”
Over the next several months, the City will ask the community to share feedback, both in person and online, to help see how our transportation network can grow and change to better meet everyone’s needs. Whether people walk, ride a bike, take a bus, drive a car or use some other form of travel, there is great value in hearing the community’s insights on the future of transportation in Guelph.
The City would like to hear how the current transportation system is working and what improvements or changes people would like to see in the future. Community members can get involved by leaving a comment or adding a pin to the interactive map at haveyoursay.guelph.ca/transportation.
The City is also hosting a number of interactive opportunities to speak with community members about their transportation concerns and ideas in person, including at the upcoming Zero Waste Festival at the Victoria Road Recreation Centre on Saturday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional events and locations will be confirmed in the coming weeks. City staff expects to present the updated Transportation Master Plan for council’s consideration in summer 2020.
