Clair-Maltby bus tour organized by Protect Our Moraine for Sunday

A bus tour of the Clair-Maltby area is being organized for Dec. 2 to discuss Guelph’s next urban expansion, which is expected to eventually be home to as many as 25,000 people.

The tour is being organized by Protect Our Moraine, with plans to discuss the importance of ground water recharge functions, preserving heritage landscapes and how green infrastructure can  protect the features of the landscape.

There will be stops along the route to discuss the kind of development that is being planned for the area.

A press release for the event stated that the Clair-Maltby Secondary Plan area contains an extensive wetland network, significant woodlands, wildlife corridors and important groundwater recharge areas for the Paris-Galt moraine, a source for some of the drinking water In Guelph and surrounding area.

The tour is coinciding with the city of Guelph’s public consultation sessions on Clair-Maltby, which is scheduled for December 4th.

Participation is free but pre-registration is required for the family-friendly event.

The bus will depart from The Boathouse on Gordon Street at 1:30 p.m. Sharp on Sunday. In case of a snow event, the tour will be rescheduled for the following Sunday.
