Collision sends one to hospital with minor injuries (2 photos)

Multiple lanes of the south end intersection were closed for about 30 minutes

A collision early Friday evening involving two vehicles closed multiple lanes at a busy south end intersection and police say it resulted in one driver being sent to hospital with minor injuries.

The collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m. today, leaving a minivan in the middle of the intersection in the westbound lanes of Stone Road West and a car in the northbound lane of Scottsdale Drive.

Both vehicles sustained damage in the collision, with visible front-end damage to the minival and right-side damage to the car.

Side airbags were deployed on the right side of the car.

An on-scene officer with Guelph Police Services said the driver of the minivan was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police blocked off one westbound lane to traffic and closed off the entire northbound portion of Scottsdale Drive until the intersection was cleared, shortly before 5:30 p.m.

At this time it is unknown what charges, if any, may be laid.
