On Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 – 1 p.m. the Suzuki String School Guelph (SSSG) opens its doors to families with young children for its Annual Music Fair at the Guelph Youth Music Centre – 75 Cardigan Street. The event will showcase the school’s wonderful music program for string instruments – Violin, Viola, Cello and now Double Bass!

Families interested in getting their children involved with a music program that will yield tremendous results, should come and experience what the Suzuki program is all about.

Saturdays at the SSSG are dedicated to group classes and orchestra rehearsals for children ages 3 -17. This is a chance to observe these in action.

Children will also get the opportunity to try small string instruments at the Instrument Petting Zoo.

“Parents are often amazed at how excited and engaged their children get when they hold a real violin, viola, cello or double bass for the first time and feel the music they make,” says SSSG board member, Walter Schajnoha.

Parents can also ask questions of the SSSG parent volunteers to their perspective on the opportunities the school has afforded them and their children over the years.

Other activities include: exploring the gentle instruments from the school’s Suzuki Early Childhood Education program for children 0-3, enjoying a snack at the Café, creating a Craft and browsing through the Used Book/CD/DVD Sale.

Admission and parking: Free
