The city is set to install a wildlife crossing on Maltby Road East.
The wildlife crossing and the wildlife exclusion fencing should help guide turtles to move underneath the road instead of crossing on the road.
The construction of the installation is expected to start on or around Aug. 21 and last for five days.
Maltby Road East, between Gordon Street and Victoria Road South, will be closed to traffic during construction.
Traffic will be redirected to Gordon Street, Clair Road East and Victoria Road South.
Access to businesses and property driveways will be maintained by accessing Gordon Street or Victoria Road South. City services will continue to operate but some delays should be excepted.
The City of Guelph tweeted out a video in 2018 of a turtle using the wildlife crossing.
Wanna see an ACTUAL #turtle using our new #wildlife crossings? These make it safe for people and critters to get where they're going! pic.twitter.com/TTycRKhG7v
