Police say a Guelph man was arrested Wednesday after DNA linked him to a vehicle stolen last summer.

Officers were called to a commercial plaza on Woodlawn Road West last July where they recovered a GMC Sierra pickup stolen six weeks earlier from a Guelph driveway.

Evidence located within the vehicle was sent to the Centre of Forensic Science for analysis. In December, Guelph Police learned a DNA sample from the evidence was a match to someone on the National DNA Data Bank.

A 21-year-old was arrested Wednesday and charged with being an occupant in a stolen motor vehicle and breaching probation.
