Guelph Arts Council is excited to announce a call for site proposals for Doors Open Guelph 2020. Doors Open is a celebration of Guelph's finest buildings, creative spaces, and historically or architecturally relevant sites.

Presented annually by Guelph Arts Council since 2002, the program showcases Guelph’s hidden gems, as well as our community’s architecture, heritage, creativity, and innovation. The 2020 event takes place on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019. Application instructions and criteria can be found here.

Sites will be assessed on their architectural, cultural, historical or social significance; innovative design or technology; thematic relevance; and capacity to contribute to a successful event. Across the province, Doors Open 2020 events will explore the theme of Environment.

In announcing the call for site proposals, Guelph Arts Council’s Executive Director Patti Broughton said: “On behalf of the Doors Open Guelph Steering Committee, I am pleased to invite potential sites in Guelph to apply to be part of 2020’s event. Participating in Doors Open is a great opportunity to share the story of your special place with residents and visitors who are keenly interested in this community.”

Doors Open Guelph is one of Guelph Arts Council’s longest-running programs. Its success is due to the hard work of volunteers, who work as Steering Committee members, site captains, tour guides, sweeps, greeters, counters, researchers, and more, as well as the support of event sponsors.

Guelph Arts Council invites immediate expressions of interest from potential Steering Committee members, who provide strategic oversight to this important community celebration, and Site Captains. If you are passionate about sharing Guelph’s stories, and would like to be more involved in Doors Open Guelph, please contact Patti Broughton at [email protected] or 519-836-3280.

For more information about site selection, volunteering, or event sponsorship, please contact Fan-Ling Suen at [email protected] or 519-836-3280.

Since its inception, Doors Open Guelph has been part of Doors Open Ontario, a province-wide initiative that celebrates community heritage. Doors Open Guelph has had the distinction of being the kick-off event for Doors Open Ontario each year.
