Driver charged in Friday's fatal collision

A 17-year-old has been charged with careless driving causing death

A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged following a Friday night collision which claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist.

He was charged with careless driving causing death.

Police say emergency services were called just before 10 p.m. Friday to the area of Grange Road and Kearney Street. Investigation revealed a Nissan SUV was making a left turn when it collided with a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained severe injuries and was transported to Guelph General Hospital where he passed away a short time later. The driver of the SUV was not physically injured.

The SUV driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing death.
