NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF GUELPH
*************************
The city is conducting a telephone survey about leash-free facilities in Guelph.

The telephone survey will include questions about fenced leash-free areas, similar to those included in Parks and Recreation Master Plan survey, including:

  • Whether the city should allow or prohibit leash-free areas next to protected natural areas.
  • Preferred options for leash-free areas, including fenced leash-free areas, trails, or none at all.
  • Where residents think fenced dog parks should be located.
  • If residents would want a fenced leash-free area in a park near their home.

The city will use these survey results, other community engagement feedback and staff’s professional expertise, to inform a report presented at Committee of the Whole on Feb. 3, 2020.

The report will provide a summary of engagement efforts to date and recommendations on next steps for leash-free areas in Guelph.

A link to the report will be posted on Jan. 23, 2020. Residents interested in delegating at the Feb. 3 meeting must register no later than 10 a.m. on Jan. 31, 2020. Learn more about delegating or submitting written comments here.
