A Fergus male faces impaired driving charges after he was stopped in Guelph Saturday.
About 3:50 p.m., information was received from the Ontario Provincial Police about a possible impaired driver heading toward Guelph on Highway 6 North. The vehicle was located by Guelph police a short time later on Woodlawn Road West and pulled over.
The driver was showing signs of being impaired by a drug and failed several roadside sobriety tests, say police. He was transported to the police station where further testing confirmed his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a narcotic. Several used syringes were located on his person and inside the motor vehicle.
A 34-year-old Fergus male is charged with operation while impaired by a drug. He will appear in a Guelph court April 27, 2021.
