Guelph’s festival and event organizers will have an opportunity to take a masterclass next month from one of the world’s leading experts in the field.

Paul Gudgin will present the two-day masterclass for the first time ever in Guelph on May 6 and 7 at 10C Shared Space.

Gudgin has over 30 years experience in event organizing and is known for his role advising and running several major events in the UK, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival.

“Guelph has been mentioned to me a number of times, not just as an attractive city, but as an excellent events destination so I am keen to see it for myself. “It certainly seems to be a city that appreciates festivals,” said Gudgin in a press release. “I never tire of talking to festival and event organisers, I love their passion, energy and enthusiasm and I am sure this will be the case in Guelph.”

Gudgin has presented his masterclass world wide and throughout Ontario. This will be his first workshop held in Guelph. He feels his international perspective helps create value for people who attend the course.

“Whether it is Adelaide or Zimbabwe, event organizers face similar challenges all over the world, from raising the money to dealing with security or developing audiences, but I never ceased to be amazed by the skill and creativity of people within our industry and hope I can pass on some of the best ideas and examples when I am in Guelph,” said Gudgin.

The masterclass runs May 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 10C Shared Space at 42 Carden St. Sessions include marketing, press, programming, sponsorship and fundraising.
