Another Guelph man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

During the 10-month investigation dubbed Project Hammer, undercover officers purchased more than three kilograms of cocaine and significant amounts of MDMA and psilocybin. Search warrants were executed earlier this month at addresses in Toronto and Guelph, resulting in the recovery of more than two kilograms of suspected cocaine and large quantities of suspected psilocybin, MDMA, LSD tablets and Oxycodone pills. Also recovered was more than $236,000 in cash and a loaded handgun.

Two Guelph males as well as a male and female from Toronto were already arrested.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers were patrolling near Guelph Street and Willow Road when they spotted a passenger in a vehicle who was known to be wanted in connection with the investigation. The vehicle was stopped and the male arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed almost $1,500 in cash in a fanny pack.

A 28-year-old man is charged with trafficking a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
