The final stages of the City of Guelph 2019 budget starts Thursday night at City Hall.

In the first of eight meetings, staff will present the proposed non-tax supported operating budget. That budget covers stormwater services, court services, water and wastewater services and Ontario Building Code administration.

Staff is recommending a budget in those areas that would see an average annual increase cost to homeowners of $12 ($6 in wastewater and $6 in stormwater charges).

Thursday's meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Council deliberation and decision on this portion of the budget takes place Jan. 23.

The 2019 budget has been delayed due to the 2018 municipal election.

There are eight meetings in total, with the final deliberations and decision on the most significant elements of the budget - the tax-supported operating budget and the local boards and shared services budget - set for March 5.

A complete list of budget meeting dates, including deadlines to sign up to delegate before council, can be found here.
