NEWS RELEASE

GUELPH-WELLINGTON EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE

************************
In celebration of national Paramedic Services Week, Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Service is hosting a free community event.

On Friday, May 27 from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. an information and vehicle display will be set up at Stone Road Mall, 435 Stone Road West, near the food court.

The public is invited to check out an ambulance, watch equipment demonstrations, hear about the paramedic’s role in the community, and learn more about the community paramedicine program.

A free blood pressure clinic will operate both days and the public has an opportunity to receive hands-on training on a public access defibrillator.

File of Life magnets will also be handed out. Residents are asked to record critical medical information on the magnet and place it on the outside of the fridge—a place that is highly visible and gives emergency first responders quick access to a patient’s medical history during an emergency.

This year’s theme is ‘Paramedics: Enhancing Care, Changing Lives.’
