Special weather statement in effect for:
    •    Guelph - Erin - Southern Wellington County

A wintry mix is expected starting Thursday.

Hazards:
Ice accretion from freezing rain.
Snowfall accumulation of 5 cm.
Southeasterly wind gusts up to 80 km/h.

Timing:
Strong wind gusts are expected to begin early Thursday morning and persist until Thursday evening. Freezing rain is expected Thursday morning until early Thursday afternoon, where it will then transition into snow.

Impacts:
Icy and slippery roads, power outages, damage to trees and property due to freezing rain and strong wind gusts. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Discussion:
A strong low pressure system is expected to bring gusty southeasterly winds and a wintry mix of precipitation on Thursday. The precipitation is forecast to begin as either freezing rain or ice pellets before transitioning to snow after noon. Snow is expected to taper to flurries Thursday evening.
