Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Guelph - Erin - Southern Wellington County
  • Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo
  • Mount Forest - Arthur - Northern Wellington County

Freezing rain and rain possible Wednesday.

Hazards:
Freezing rain with ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm.
Strong easterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h.
Rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm may lead to localized flooding.
Icy roads and local power outages are possible.

Timing:
Beginning Wednesday morning into Wednesday evening.

Discussion:
Freezing rain is possible beginning Wednesday morning or afternoon. Freezing rain is expected to change to rain Wednesday afternoon or evening. Areas near the shores of Lake Ontario are likely to remain above the freezing mark, and as a result should receive only rain. The partially frozen ground may have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall and localized flooding may be possible.
Ice accretion combined with gusty easterly winds may result in localized power outages.
