To celebrate five years in the business of delivering lunches to kids, local company LunchBox Orders went around the city to spread several acts of kindness.

The team wore their bright blue shirts and began their quest to touch peoples lives early morning on April 30.

They handed out sunscreen to crossing guards, visited 18 schools with free Booster Juice, paid it forward at three coffee shops, handed out free Tim Hortons gift cards and donated food to Food4Kids Waterloo Wellington, Grange Hill East Neighbourhood Group and the YMCA.

“We went out super early and whenever we saw a crossing guard, we would approach them and thank them for braving the weather and for helping our kids cross the streets every single day safely," said Marketing and sales administrator Colette Bayani-Thody.

“We don't know if they're having a rough day, we just wanted to say thank you to them to be appreciative of what they do.”

Colette Bayani-Thody said the intent of this day is to bring a little joy, peace and love to peoples day hoping it will inspire them to do the same.

“It was so nice. When we were giving the Tim Hortons gift cards. At first a lot of people -when you approach them- are kind of on guard and they're not really used to a stranger tapping them at the parking lot or at the mall or the UPS store,” said Bayani-Thody.

“Once they found out what we were doing, they were very grateful and appreciative of it.”

Bayani-Thody said she was pleased to see how the acts of kindness spread when a woman who was given a Tim Hortons gift card responded by saying she will give it to someone who is in a greater need for it.

After their “Student of the Month” program where students are acknowledged for bringing a difference in the community by showing leadership, The LunchBox team was inspired to extend their hand to touch the lives of people in their community.

“The Guelph community has been incredibly supportive of us since our launch and this is one way, we can say thank you," said Lunchbox Orders managing director Melissa Roberts.

We feel it is important for us to support these community programs because of the amount of support they provide directly to children in Guelph.”

“Were all on a cloud right now. Seeing peoples reactions and just truly being out there in the community giving back,” said Bayani-Thody.

“With everything going on in the world, we need just a little bit more of this giving and just being out there for one another."
