Employees and volunteers turn out to load school supplies into backpacks

Employees of Fusion Homes and other volunteers came out on a rainy Thursday to pack roughly 1,000 backpacks with school supplies.

Fusion Homes is he main sponsor of the program, donating $10,000 to the cause, which is a project of Hope House in Downtown Guelph.

The event took place at the historic Metalworks building on Arthur Street that will eventually be transformed into a craft distillery and restaurant.

Applications for backpacks are closed, although names can still be submitted and will be placed on a waiting list.

Each backpack is stuffed with age-appropriate school supplies for school children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
