With the lessening of pandemic-related restrictions, garage sale season has returned. The home-based, outdoor sales have popped up throughout the city the past couple weekends and, providing limits are maintained, that’s perfectly okay, Scott Green, the city’s manager of corporate and community safety.

“There’s nothing to prohibit it now,” said Green, noting that outdoor gatherings are currently capped at 10 people but that will grow to 25 come the start of step two in the provincial government’s reopening plans.

Ontario went into stage one of the government’s reopening plan on June 11, with step two anticipated to begin Wednesday.

The province already exceeds the vaccination threshold set for step two of the reopening plan – 70 per cent of the eligible population having received one dose of vaccine and 20 per cent fully vaccinated with two doses.

As of Monday, the province reported 77.37 per cent of eligible residents had received a single dose of vaccine, while 35.41 per cent had received two.
