Getting schooled on emergency preparedness (8 photos)

The event is being held in advance of Emergency Preparedness Week from May 6 to 12

The West End Community Centre was host to a number of displays for Emergency Preparedness Day on Wednesday.

This year's theme is Be Emergency Ready, highlighting that everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency.

"Being prepared means having the knowledge and equipment necessary to better cope during an emergency,” says Dave Elloway, Guelph’s community emergency management coordinator in a press release.

The event is being held in advance of Emergency Preparedness Week, which is May 6 to 12.

Displays from a number of community groups, local utility companies and emergency first response organizations showed many aspects of emergency preparedness.

The event is open Wednesday, May 2 until 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
