The Guelph and District Multicultural Festival continues to find ways to celebrate cultural diversity during the pandemic.

After the virtual event that took place in March, the festival is launching the GDMF Radio Show, a multicultural radio show that will run for four weeks leading up to the big virtual multicultural event on the June 11 weekend.

The radio show will be hosted by CFRU 93.3 FM. Starting May 20, it will run every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with rebroadcasts on Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon.

“Each episode of the GDMF Radio Show will feature guests from a variety of countries and communities recalling the most memorable festival experiences from their cultural traditions and all programs will feature international music chosen by the interview guests,” said Cinthuja Leon, executive director of the GDMF in a press release.

The first episode will feature guests that will share their experiences of festivals in China, Egypt, Ghana, India, the Philippines, and Trinidad and Tabago.

The online festival will showcase pre-recorded events from June 11 to June 13 that feature cultural performances, craft vendors, food vendors and youth talent.
