The Guelph Chamber of Commerce is looking for business owners who have something to say about the current business environment for a new survey.

The Chamber has launched an initiative called the Business Census, a 20 minute survey aimed at helping the chamber learn more about the real issues businesses are currently facing.

Shakiba Shayani, director of the Guelph Chamber, explains the census is meant to help shape the work they do as a chamber to help businesses achieve their goals. To create and distribute the survey, the Guelph Chamber partnered with local business, Pollination Network.

"We're going to hear about the future of work, the future economy, the future of talent and workforce, so we do have a sense of that, and the survey will allow us to dig into that and those key topics," said Shayani.

Some issues the chamber expects to hear about is workforce retention, employee wellbeing and rentention and more.

Since September, the survey has been sent to 7,000 businesses in Guelph. Shayani mentions the chamber is hoping to hear back from 700 businesses across all sectors before Oct. 15, especially entrepreneurs and small businesses who make up more than half of businesses.

“I believe will be able to achieve that based on how the numbers are going now,” she said mentioning they already heard from over 400, "Part of the outreach is to get the momentum going, to reach as many voices as possible."

The results of the census are expected to come out next year. Businesses who wish to participate can click here.
