Some local celebrity chefs will be on hand to judge some local chefs’ grilling skills for a good cause Wednesday night in Guelph.

The Skewer For A Cure to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Canada takes place at JL’s Home Hardware at 575 Wellington St.

Organizers say the event is based on the popular Food Network show Chopped Canada and features several chefs competing for the top prize on the barbecue.

Guelph’s own high-profile foodie Emily Richards will be one of the judges. She is joined by chef Michael Benninger and mark Steffler of Weber Barbeques Canada.

Chefs from some of Guelph’s top local eateries will be competing in the competition: The Keg, State & Main, Bite Guelph, Milsestone’s, Valeriote’s Market, Fifty West and Envers will all be represented.

They will receive a basket of mystery ingredients and judged on their creations.

The event runs from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tickets are $5.
