A Guelph comic book and gaming shop is levelling up.

The experience has been gained, and The Dragon – located in the Old Quebec Street Shoppes – has gotten to 25 years in business. The store will celebrate with one of its key events, the Guelph Comics Jam.

Award-winning writers and cartoonists will be on hand to sign autographs as part of the event, running Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests include Jeff Lemire, Emily Carroll and Ryan North.

The shop has come a long way in 25 years.

Founded by Jenn Haines, the single mom of two was able to establish the shop as a community hub for comic book and game enthusiasts alike.

It not only sells comic books and gaming goods, it also regularly hosts gaming events and has even opened a location in Milton.

Haines will also unveil a 25th anniversary logo for the store, which was created by Guelph native and Emmy Award winning cartoonist Jay Stephens.

The event is open to the public and free to attend.
