A Guelph company, and their 32-year-old employee, are facing several charges after a crash in Kitchener.

Numerous charges have been handed out to a Guelph company following a crash in Kitchener Thursday afternoon involving a commercial motor vehicle.

Waterloo Regional Police said the vehicle was transporting a large metal part weighing more than 10,000 lbs, but that it was not secured properly, dislodged while the vehicle was travelling along Trillium Drive, rolled across the road and the part hit a parked vehicle.

Police conducted an inspection on the vehicle as a result, and noted four defects, including the not secured load. The other defects, police said, were that both brakes on one of the axles were not adjusted, the driver didn't perform a proper trip inspection, and a second load on the vehicle wasn't secured properly either.

A 32-year-old Campbellville man is facing three charges, while the unnamed Guelph company he works for faces five charges in all.

Nobody was hurt, and the investigation continues.
