Recently, people have begun receiving emails advising they have a traffic violation.

The email implies the victim has been issued a fine, following a supposed traffic infringement that requires immediate payment and asks you to click a link to view the fine. The fines range in the hundreds.

If you receive an email like this, the Guelph Police urge you to not pay the fees, do not click the links and delete the email.

If you think you or someone you know has been a victim of fraud, please contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or report online.
