A Guelph psychotherapist is facing a hearing from the College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario after allegedly failing to report over 100 instances of child abuse or a child in need of protection.
The notice of hearing for Suzanne Muscat alleges she failed to report about 100 instances to the Children's Aid Society from 2018 to 2019. And then, 43 more instances were allegedly not reported from 2019 to 2021.
In addition, the filing alleges Muscat stored client records in a desk and/or computer at her private practice, which was accessible by other employees.
Muscat was listed as a registered psychotherapist at MyLife Counselling.
Her profile, which is no longer accessible on the facility's website, said she has over 16 years of experience.
The filing said she worked at a facility from 2006 to 2021, and "provided psychotherapy services to vulnerable children who had witnessed or experienced different forms of abuse." It adds she was mandated, under reasonable grounds, to report to the Children's Aid Society and was aware of her duty to report.
None of the accusations have been proven.
No date or location has been set for the hearing.
Muscat did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
