Guelph Uber driver charged with sexual assault

Guelph Police have charged an Uber driver with sexual assault.

Wale Alemu, 59, of Guelph, was charged on March 11 following a sexual assault investigation involving an Uber driver that was launched on March 7, said Guelph police Const. Chris Probst on Monday.

Alemu is scheduled to appear in court on April 26.

Probst said that few details of the investigation could be revealed at this time, but did say that the alleged victim of the sexual assault did not require any medical attention.

No other details were available.

Uber Canada could not immediately be reached for comment.
