Caroll Uylett of Guelph won $5 million playing Instant Mega.

A Guelph woman who won a $5 million lottery prize thought it couldn’t be real – someone must be playing a joke on her. But no one was.

Caroll Uylett claimed the top prize on an Instant Mega scratch ticket.

"I was at home with my family when I played my ticket and realized I had won, but I was shocked," Uylett said in a news release from Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG). "I pulled out my phone to double check on the OLG app and I still couldn't wrap my head around it. I thought the app was broken – It had to be a mistake! I told my kids, 'I think I just won!' and they were in disbelief too!"

Uylett plans to use her win to help out her parents, pay for her children’s future education and buy a home.

"Family is the primary focus," she said.

The winning ticket was bought at Longo’s on Clair Road.
