On Dec. 1, 2020 we are celebrating GuelphGives, and we want to hear from you!

GuelphGives is part of the larger Giving Tuesday movement; a day to kick-off the giving season and celebrate all forms of giving as we work together to build a better community. We want to kick off the giving season by using this day to both celebrate this year in giving and to encourage our community to continue to give back this holiday season.

Now more than ever, it's important to take a moment to celebrate the amazing accomplishments we have seen in the Guelph community. Many citizens are rallying around their favourite charity and are shopping local more than ever, and what better way to celebrate than sharing these stories and continuing to support Guelph on GivingTuesday!

“We are looking to continue to build collaboration and connection between local charities and businesses. The generosity many charities and local businesses have seen the past eight months is truly inspiring and we want to use the GuelphGives platform to share these stories” said Emma Rogers, Chair of the Guelph Gives Committee.

This year, GuelphGives wants to give a platform to local businesses and not-for-profit organizations to help them kick-off their giving season by having the community ‘think local’. Even though we cannot gather together to celebrate our community, we can easily come together online. When you participate in GuelphGives, you will be entered to win one of five $100 local gift cards or one of two $250 donations to a local not-for-profit of your choice.

To participate, share your story of how you support local businesses or not-for-profits on social media. Tag @GuelphGives and use the hashtags #GuelphGives and #GuelphShops. Follow @GuelphGives and make your account public so we can see your story.

There are many ways you can celebrate Giving Tuesday:

  • Consider donating to causes in Guelph doing important work to address many of our local issues

  • Visit or purchase a gift card for a local business
 • Volunteer at an organization you value and want to help

  • Help educate yourself and spread awareness of Guelph’s local issues and think about how you can get involved
