Guelph's Scott Diamond recalled by Toronto Blue Jays

Guelph native Scott Diamond has been called up by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Jays made the roster move on Monday afternoon.

Diamond, 29, had been pitching for the AAA Buffalo Bisons after signing with the Blue Jays in the off season.

He made 10 starts for Buffalo, sporting a 2-6 record and 3.48 earned-run average. He struck out 27 and walked 14 in 62 innings of work.

The six-foot-three, 205-pound lefthander has a 19-27 career record in the major leagues, all with the Minnesota Twins from 2011 to 2013.

Diamond is a graduate of Guelph's Centennial CVI high school and attended Binghamton University on a baseball scholarship.
