TRANSITION GUELPH

On Thursday, March 28, Guelph residents will get a chance to hear from leading expert Richard Heinberg about what climate change might mean for Guelph. Heinberg is an award-winning author and specialist on energy and climate, as well as a senior fellow at the Post Carbon Institute.

The event is being held from 7-9 p.m. at Centennial Collegiate and Vocational Institute and is generously sponsored by the Co-operators. Before and after the talk, the audience will be able to interact with a number of local organizations that are working toward strengthening our community.

“I’ve been following Richard and the Institute for years,” said Steve Tedesco, festival organizer. “I love how he crystallizes the greatest challenges of our generation in a compelling and accessible message and then offers insights and approaches distilled from a world-class faculty at the Institute.”

The keynote talk is part of Transition Guelph’s 9th annual Resilience Festival, a celebration of local community initiatives that focus on living more lightly and richly on our planet. The Festival’s theme is “Resilience in the Face of Climate Change” and many of its events will emphasize local, practical responses to the impact of climate change.

Advance tickets to the keynote talk and the full schedule of Festival events can be found at guelphresiliencefestival.ca. For a modest donation, tickets are available at the door as well.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the Festival should send an enquiry to: [email protected]. The Festival runs entirely on community support.
