Revised site plan for a development being targeted for 361 Whitelaw Rd.

The developer looking to build a large high-density development in the city's west end has scaled back the proposal.

Armel Corp. had originally filed plans with the city looking to build a 800-unit apartment and stacked townhouse complex at 361 Whitelaw Rd., near where it intersects with Paisley Road.

The land is currently vacant and some of it is being used for agriculture purposes.

But a revised plan coming to city council's planning meeting July 8 has the proposal sitting at 700 units.

It would include four apartment buildings between eight and nine stories high, two six-storey apartment buildings and 128 stacked townhouses.

The original proposal called for five apartment buildings eight to 10 storeys high.

A community park is also part of the proposal.

The appearance at the July 8 planning meeting is the public meeting on the proposal. No decision will be made.

The first time the proposal came before council several councillors expressed concern about the size, height and density of it.
