Impaired by drug charge for driver of car that smashed into a bus shelter

Guelph police report that Sunday at 12:15 a.m., an adult male driving a motor vehicle near the intersection of Ironwood Road and Reid Court mounted a curb and collided with numerous objects including a bus stop shelter. There were no injuries resulting from the collision.

Police arrived on scene, spoke with the male and he ultimately performed poorly in a standard field sobriety test. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Guelph police service station where he was further evaluated by a drug recognition expert.

A 43-year-old Guelph male has been charged with operation while impaired - drug and dangerous driving.
He will appear in court Oct. 12th.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
