MICHAEL CHONG

Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong has called a press conference for Monday morning where speculation is he will announce he will be running for the head of the Federal Conservative Party.

The press release said Chong will be making "an important announcement on the future of the Conservative Party of Canada."

The press release said Chong "and his family" will provide a photo op beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday, walking from Centre Block on Parliament Hill to the National Press Theatre where he will make his announcement.

There has been rampant speculation for some time that Chong will run for the leadership. He has refused to confirm or deny that speculation.

Chong has represented Wellington-Halton Hills since 2004 and has held several cabinet posts in the Conservative governments since then.

He, his wife and three sons live just outside Fergus.
