On Wednesday, June 22, the City of Guelph and the Age-Friendly Guelph Leadership Team are hosting Guelph’s first-ever Age-friendly Business Symposium.
The free event, open to business owners, community leaders and local organizations in Guelph, runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Delta Guelph Hotel and Conference Centre, 50 Stone Road West.
Lunch is provided and attendees will hear a presentation by Liz Cunningham, from Age Friendly Business Academy.
Cunningham’s talk will reflect why it is important for businesses to recognize a growing older adult population.
In addition to experiential examples of older adults interacting with businesses, she will present simple age-friendly solutions for businesses to implement that won’t cost large amounts of money.
The event is also an opportunity for attendees to view displays from community not-for-profit organizations and network with local organizations, businesses and community members.
Pre-registration is required and tickets can be ordered at guelph.ca/agefriendly. Parking is free at the hotel.

About the Age-Friendly Guelph Leadership Team
The Age-Friendly Guelph Leadership Team is responsible for the stewardship of the Older Adult Strategy (OAS) framework in Guelph.
Its primary responsibilities are to lead, uphold and advocate for the achievement of the vision and goal of the OAS through coordinating the prioritized implementation of the strategy’s recommendations.
Age-friendly community, as defined in the OAS, is a community that supports older adults to live in security, maintain their health and actively participate in society.
An age-friendly city adapts its organizational structure and services to be accessible and inclusive of older adults with varying needs and capacities.
