It was a busy weekend for alcohol-related arrests

Alcohol related driving arrests

On Friday, April 21, 2017 at 9:15 p.m. Guelph police were contacted by a citizen who was reporting an erratic driver.  The citizen relayed a description of the vehicle and police were able to locate it shortly thereafter.  A traffic stop was conducted on Bradson Drive and an investigation into the driving was initiated.  As a result of the investigation, Barry Stein, a 52-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with having a blood alcohol concentration more than 80 mg while driving.  He will be in court on May 5, 2017.

On Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 2:15 a.m., while on patrol, Guelph Police officers observed a vehicle in the downtown area being driven in a dangerous manner.  A traffic top was conducted on MacDonell Street.  As a result of this investigation, Richard Gambling, a 58-year-old Cambridge man, was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  He will be in court on May 30, 2017.

On Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 4:22 p.m. Guelph police were contacted by a citizen who was concerned about a male that was potentially driving while impaired.  As a result of the investigation that followed, Richard Fowlie, a 55-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  He will be in court on May 9, 2017.

On Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 9:01 p.m. Guelph police responded to a report of a collision in a parking lot on Woodlawn Road West.  Police arrived and observed that there were two vehicles involved with relatively minor damaged.  Police spoke to one of the drivers involved and determined she was impaired.  As a result of the investigation, Chantal Hooper, a 26-year-old Guelph female, was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  She will be in court on May 9, 2017.

On Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 12:34 a.m., while on patrol, Guelph police officers observed a vehicle on Willow road driving in an erratic manner.  A traffic stop was conducted on Paisley Road and the driver spoken to.  As a result of this investigation, Wondu Mesfin, a 36-year-old Guelph woman, was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  She will be in court on May 12, 2017
