Guelph Public Library is excited to launch its annual Summer Reading programs for all ages on June 12. Drop by any library location to pick up your reading club package, then just read anytime, anywhere, whether on a device, listening to audiobooks or even reading upside down!

“Our summer reading programs are a great way to keep children engaged and enthusiastic about reading while school is out, helping to avoid the summer slide,” shares Meg Forestell-Page, community engagement supervisor. “By joining these programs as a family, you can lead by example and help to build your child’s confidence in and excitement about reading. It’s all about having fun while reading.”

It’s easy to participate. Here’s how:

  1. Starting Monday, June 13, drop by any library location to pick up your summer reading club package.
  2. For children ages birth to 12 years, fill out your printed reading log each time you read, then submit it to any location or by email to [email protected] by Sept. 4. Prize draws will be held in mid-September. You can also set up an online account at tdsummerreadingclub.ca for extra challenges and activities like the battle of the books, weekly trivia questions, book reviews to collect badges and more. Note: you can submit as many reading logs as you wish!
  3. For teens and adults, pick up your Bingo card at any location or download/print the teen or adult bingo cards via the library’s website. Read books in any of the categories listed to earn a Bingo by completing a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. Write the book titles you read on the back of the card. Drop off your Bingo card at any library location or snap a photo of your completed card and email it to [email protected] by Sept. 4. Prize draws will be held in mid-September. Note: you can enter as many times as you complete a Bingo and as many cards as you wish!

If you have any questions about the summer reading programs, please email [email protected] or phone 519-824-6220.

Challenge yourself to read something new this summer. Be curious. Discover mysterious, bizarre and intriguing stories gathered from near and far and from your imagination. Experience the joy of reading for fun! Whether you are a long-time participant or new to our summer reading programs, you will find great resources at your library to help you create the best summer reading experience ever!
