A St. Jacob's-based landscape supply company has plans to expand its location between Guelph and Rockwood with a new building.
Creative Landscape Depot is proposing to add a 1,628 sq. ft. building for sales to its existing landscape supply yard at 7956 Highway 7 in the Township of Guelph/Eramosa.
Guelph/Eramosa council authorized its CAO to approve the project site plan, pending the receipt of a few final conditions, at its Monday meeting.
Creative Landscape Depot CEO Jordan Ward says the new structure will provide "a more interactive and inviting environment" for homeowners and contractors to browse the business' selection of landscape supplies like natural stone, interlocking pavers, wall stones, mulches and soils indoors 12 months of the year.
Ward says landscape supply yards generally feature just a mobile trailer office unit, but the company has taken a different approach at its St. Jacob's location.
"If you go there, we've got quite a renovated, inviting, really almost modern minimalist approach ot how we present a rugged abrasive product like natural stone," he said.
Creative Landscape Design would like to create something similar at its Guelph location.
Ward anticipates the new structure could be open by the end of 2023, depending on financing and the receipt of necessary approvals from the township.
Creative Landscape Depot currently employs around eight people at its Guelph location, but Ward anticipates the expansion could up that number to about 30 within two to four years.
