The Guelph Public Library wants your family's cooking secrets and the stories behind them.

The library is planning to produce a local community cookbook this fall called Eat, Explore, Enjoy to be used as a library fundraiser. It will exclusively feature local recipes submitted by Guelph residents.

In addition to the recipes, the book will include the story behind the recipes.

The book will eventually have its own website and will be for sale at all library branches in November.

Deadline for submissions is September 30, there is a limit of one per person and not all recipes will be included.

All proceeds from cookbook sales go to the Guelph Public Library.

Library CEO Steve Kraft said that the cookbook will help connect people of all ages and demographics through the art of storytelling and food.

“Not only will people learn fresh culinary techniques and tips from our new cookbook, but they can also delve into family traditions and cultural food experiences through the sharing of recipes," Kraft said.

"Eat, Explore, and Enjoy is a wonderful way to bring together everyone - both as readers and cooks alike - to feast on something new this November.”

The library is currently accepting recipe submissions through a link on its home page that includes a submission form. They also want at least 50 words on the story behind the recipe.

Recipes and stories can also be emailed directly to [email protected] or dropped off at any branch.

The full-colour, glossy booklet is being created in partnership with Venture Publications, Lawless Creative and the Guelph Bugle.
