After a subdued 2020, Guelph Beer Day is back with a full slate of special events at various Guelph breweries set for Saturday.

Guelph.Beer, a partnership representing Guelph's five local breweries, formed in 2018. Shortly after that, the group anointed the third Saturday in November as Guelph Beer Day, with inaugural celebrations held in 2019.

"It's an opportunity for each brewery to showcase their brewery and what they do," said Brad McInerney, marketing manager at Wellington Brewery.

"But the idea is that all of us are celebrating together as a way to say 'hey, our local breweries are a really important part of what makes Guelph special.'"

In 2020, Guelph Beer Day was marked with mostly "socially distant and online" festivities, McInerney explained.

This year, with live music, food pop-ups, local vendors and special promotions on the agenda, is a chance to "get back to where things were and start building in a way that's safe and fun," McInerney said.

"It should be a pretty great experience for people who have the opportunity to hit a few different breweries on that day because you get to experience the creativity in the different environment of each brewery," he continued.

Here's what's planned for the 2021 installment of Guelph Beer Day:

  • Wellington Brewery hosts the Trans Canada Fry Way pop-up french fry and poutine stand, Garden Xpress Holiday Greenery Market, and Santa Claus giving brewery tours! From noon to 5 p.m.
  • Swing into Brothers Brewing downtown for a pint and a shucking good time with the Shuck Truck oyster popup starting at 1 p.m. Good times continue until midnight!
  • Visit the Sleeman Retail Store for fresh filled 32 oz Crowlers for a special price of only $5 per can. Try something true or try something new. Special pricing now available on mix and match 12pk cans and bottles. Check us out!
  • To celebrate Guelph Beer Day, Royal City will be pouring $5 glasses of select brands all day!
  • And Fixed Gear will be having live music throughout the day with beer tastings alongside wood oven fired pizza and Fixed Gear branded toque giveaways.
