A community vigil is being held for Nex Benedict in Royal City Park next week.
Nex was a 16-year-old, non-binary, Indigenous teen who died the day after an altercation with classmates in an Oklahoma school bathroom last month.
“Gather with the community as we mourn the murder of Nex Benedict… and all our trans/non-binary/two spirit siblings who have been lost at the hands of anti-trans laws and legislations,” the poster reads.
The vigil will include speakers and be held at the Royal City Park gazebo at 6 p.m. on March 20.
