A Guelph man has been arrested two months after a motorist drove across a lawn to escape police.

On Feb. 13, approximately 5:30 a.m., officers were patrolling on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West when they saw a vehicle leaving a parking lot. Officers knew the owner of the vehicle to be a suspended driver and attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed over a curb and across a lawn before fleeing northbound on Woolwich Street and running a red light at Speedvale Avenue. Officers did not pursue in the interest of public safety.

The driver was identified via surveillance video. On Thursday a 32-year-old Guelph man was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and flight from police.
