Man found sleeping in stolen car, faces drug and weapons charges

Upon arrival, it was learned the vehicle was stolen and the male was found in possession of several weapons and drugs

On September 8, 2018, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a business on Scottsdale Drive in regard to a male sleeping in a vehicle.  Upon arrival, it was learned the vehicle was stolen and the male who was in the driver seat was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.  Search incident to arrest, and police located the following items on him or in the vehicle:

  • Switchblade knife
  • Collapsible baton
  • Bear spray
  • Brass knuckles
  • A substance believed to be marijuana with a street value of $100
  • A substance believed to cocaine/fentanyl with a street value of $8000
  • A substance believed to crack cocaine with a street value of $100
  • A substance believed to be LSD with a street value of $20 

Matthew HANSON, a 22-year-old Guelph male was further charged with two counts of breaching his Probation, two counts of Drive Disqualified, Weapons Dangerous, two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order, two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.  HASNON appeared in court on September 9, 2018.
