Man tries to stop fight, gets throat cut

Police say a large group of people were fighting in Mount Forest

WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP – On June 12, 2016 at approximately 12 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police received a report about a large group of people fighting on Princess Ann Street, Mount Forest. 

A 21-year-old male attempted to get in between the fighting to stop it and received a cut with a knife to the throat area. 

He received treatment at a local hospital.  Police arrested a young male a short time later without incident. The weapon used has not been located.

A 16-year-old male from Mount Forest is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The name of the young person will not be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He was held in custody and attended WASH Bail Court.
