The annual Mayor’s Event For Mental Health will happen virtually this week, with the focus on how racism affects mental health.

The event is usually hosted in council chambers but is being held online this year, Friday, Oct. 9,  from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The event recognizes World Mental Health Day, which this year is on Oct. 10.

The event will be “A virtual event where we will dig deeper into the roots of discrimination and racism and how they affect mental health.”

Speaking will be Sara Sayyed of the Muslim Society of Guelph and Kween from the Guelph Black Heritage Society.

There is no cost to attend but people are asked to register at mentalhealthguelph.eventbrite.ca.
