An upcoming Canadian Forces training exercise will close access to the former Guelph Correctional Facility lands.

Garrison Petawawa will be training in Guelph from Nov. 1 to 9, said Lieut. Anne Côté, spokesperson for Canadian Forces.

“Access will not be granted to people who want to look at what we are doing for security reasons,” said Côté.

The exercise is part of Garrison Petawawa’s annual high readiness training to ensure it can be deployed anywhere at a moment’s notice, said Côté.

Efforts will be made to ensure the disruption to the community will be at a minimum, she said, but residents may notice military vehicles, uniformed military personnel with weapons and hear noises associated with explosives and personal weapons during the training.
