More development proposed for Gordon Street

Proposal would finish off a development started in a triangular section bordered by Lowes Road, Gordon Street and Dawn Avenue

Reid's Heritage Homes is looking to build 154 stacked townhouses and eight detached homes on a 5.2-acre lot in south Guelph.

Officially the addresses of the proposal are 1563, 1567, 1573, 1579 Gordon St., 42 and 48 Lowes Rd. and 164, 174, 182 Dawn Avenue.

A public meeting on the application will be held at the planning meeting of council on June 13 at 6:30 p.m. No decision will be made at that time.

It is a triangular section of the south end where construction had already been started on an adjoining, unrelated section fronting Lowes and Gordon. The detached homes would face Dawn Avenue.

There are currently nine detached homes on the subject property that will be demolished under the proposal, which has 92 metres of frontage on Dawn Avenue, 54 metres of frontage on Lowes Road West and 74 metres of frontage on Gordon Street.

Reid's has applied for zoning bylaw amendments to allow allowing smaller lot sizes, increased height, increased number of stacked townhouses allowed in a row, reduced frontage and increased density than what is currently allowed.

The stacked townhouses would be accessed via a private road that would be accessed from Lowes Road.
