More 'fluvid' appointments coming, says public health

A spokesperson for WDG Public Health said while appointments are completely booked now, more will be added as vaccine shipments continue to come in

‘Fluvid’ vaccination appointments through public health might be all booked up right now, but not for long.

If you’ve tried to book a flu and COVID vaccination appointment through Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health recently, you might’ve been told there are no available appointments through to December.

However, more appointments will be added as new shipments of vaccines come in, said Danny Williamson, a spokesperson for WDG Public Health.

He encouraged people to continue checking the website in the meantime for when that happens.

However, both vaccines can also be administered through participating local pharmacies and primary care providers.

“The best appointment for people is the one they can get first, whether that’s their primary care provider, their local pharmacy, or public health,” he said.

To date, public health has distributed more than 22,000 doses of the flu vaccine and 3,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the community, not including hospitals or long-term care and retirement homes.
