(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle at Wellington Road 19 and Wellington Road 16.
On September 4, 2023, at 10:55 a.m., an officer patrolling along Wellington Road 19 came across a serious motor vehicle collision that had just occurred. A Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with a lone driver, and a motorcycle with two occupants had collided on Wellington Road 19 at Wellington Road 16. The Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service and local fire departments attended the scene along with the Wellington County OPP.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 67-year-old of Cambridge was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The passenger of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Wellington County OPP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team. Wellington Road 19 is closed between Third Line and Fifth Line. Wellington Road 16 is closed from Wellington Road 19 to Sideroad 15. Please avoid the area and respect road closure signs.
